The Engage Lead Serve Board strives to enhance the education of students by providing structured experiential and developmental opportunities that encourage community engagement, model good leadership, and allow active service. The board promotes collaboration between organizations and focus areas that encourage philanthropy, service, leadership development, and civic engagement.
The Engage Lead Serve Board is a new development (Spring 2010) and a product of the interests and combined efforts of students. Currently located on the third floor of the University of Louisville’s Student Center, the Engage Lead Serve Board Office is located in the Office of Civic Engagement, Leadership, & Service, created in 2007 and is located in the same suite as the Office of the Dean of Students (W301). The Office of Civic Engagement, Leadership, & Service consists of a director, 2 coordinators, department assistant and graduate assistant. These staff members support the work of Engage Lead Serve Board and the development of student leaders at the
University of Louisville.
Evidence suggests that students who have strong leadership experiences and are active members of the community have a better chance of graduating and finding a job. Additionally, such involvement improves one’s chances of receiving accolades such as a Fulbright or Rhodes scholarship and achieving acceptance into programs like the Peace Corps and Teach for America.
